There has been remarkable quiet from the Hollywood elite since November 2nd.  Thank God for small favors.  Of course, Madonna keeps voicing her opinion that we are all bad people who would be so much nicer if we joined her cult.  And Linda Ronstadt continues to condemn our President and our nation, equating our government with Nazis and telling America that she thinks it will help her career.

Despite the relative quiet from Hollywood, demoralized democrats keep calling radio shows and writing editorials and letters to the editor asking how they can “take back America”.  I keep asking the obvious question:  Take America back from whom?   What follows is an edited version of a commentary that was posted on my previous blog.  I think that the question remains pertinent today.

From whom do the democrats want to “take America back”?

  • From those of us who stand for common, everyday Americans, because that is who we are?
  • From those of us who support a strict interpretation of the Constitution because it is the document that outlines our rights and freedoms without the interpretations of thousands of liberal trial lawyers and activist judges?
  • From those of us who believe that human beings are competent and can succeed without government entitlements promoted by liberals who do not believe we are competent and who try to keep control over us by making us dependent on those government entitlements?
  • From those of us who expect the right to succeed on my own merit?
  • From those of us who support people who truly cannot help themselves and who help them learn to do so?
  • From those of us who expect our education system to tell our children the truth about America and to stop using the classroom as a tool for socialist propaganda?
  • From those of us who expect our journalists to report on the facts objectively and to stop using the media as a pulpit for anti-Americanism?
  • From those of us who believe that everyone has a right to voice an opinion and to experience the natural consequences of doing so?
  • From those of us who expect that when we differ politically we do so respectfully; that we show respect for those we have been elected to office; and that we work together for better solutions within our system of representative democracy?
  • From those of us who believe that we are responsible for our behavior as long as we do not truly hurt others; that it is up to each of us to decide whether or not we wear a helmet, whether or not we smoke, whether or not we drink, whether or not we eat fast foods, and whether or not we gain or lose weight?
  • From those of us who believe that if someone irritates or offends us that it is between the two of us and does not require legislation, regulation, or litigation?
  • From those of us who expect the market to control prices and not the government?
  • From those of us who expect the federal government to take care of national security and lock up domestic criminals and leave anything else not mandated by the Constitution to us?
  • From those of us who expect to be free of government established religion but free to exercise my own religion?
  • From those of us who cannot find the word “need” in the second amendment and who expect to be able to own guns if we are law-abiding citizens?
  • From those of us who believe that patriotism means standing FOR our country and not against it?
  • From those of us who understand the difference between good and evil?
  • From those of us whose candidates for political office are not supported by socialist parties?
  • From those of us who live in the vast majority of counties across America that painted America red and that gave President Bush an overwhelming victory in the 2004 election?

Are we the people from whom the Democrats want to take back America?  From those of us who are everyday Americans?  Down to earth people who work every day for themselves and their families?  People who do not live off government or rich wives or trust funds or legal fees, or endowments?

If that is what Democrats are saying, then they have a battle on their hands.  I, for one, am not willing to blithely hand over America to people who do not understand the basic values of America and its people.  In almost every county in America, citizens gave a majority of their votes to President Bush, speaking from the point of view of their values and ideals.   America reelected President Bush.  It is time for democrats to follow the lead of most of Hollywood and accept that, once again, they were on the wrong side of the issues.  It is time for them to get on board, to end their divisive rhetoric, and to stand together with us in supporting America in our war on islamic fascism.
