You can guide a horse to water but you can’t make the horse drink the water.  That is because horses really aren’t very bright. 

I had hoped that the people of Iraq were brighter than horses.  Yet, they have been given a chance to develop a democracy…to enjoy the freedoms that Americans enjoy…and they are not taking that opportunity.  Iraqis who put religion before common sense are endangering the hope for Iraqi freedom.  They are also besmirching the heroism of Americans who have given them the opportunity to thrive.  They are giving fodder to the anti-American leftists around the world who want America to fail in its effort to bring peace and honor to the Middle East.  They cannot even agree on a constitution that will give them a future that they could never have under the sword of Islam. 

I still hope that the people of Iraq are brighter than horses.  I am slowly losing that hope.
