View Article  Sound Bite of the Decade

This is the leader that the majority of Democrats want to see in the White House in 2009.   Barack Omama.  In response to Senator Clinton’s request for another debate, he backed away, using this excuse that he needed to reach out more to the people.  Specifically, he said:

“I’m less familiar with these…uhhm…blue collar voters.”

Here’s a guy who has no idea about what it is to be a “blue collar” person.  Sure, he was raised in a single parent family by a white mother.  But he clearly is out of touch with the heartland.  And, it is the heartland that he has defined as “bitter”.

The heartland is the heart of this country.  “Blue collar” people are the core of America.  He has no idea.  NONE WHATSOEVER.  And the interesting part is that he admits it.

Now that is a sound bite of the decade.

According to the Associated Press, ex-President Jimmy Carter “said he failed to convince top Hamas boss Khaled Masheel that he could gain international good will if he stopped rocket fire on Israel for one month.   ‘I did the best I could,’ Carter said.  ‘They turned me down, and I think they’re wrong.’”

No kidding!

Only a total Type One or Type Two Oblivion (click “search” for definition) could expect that an islamofascist would agree to a cease fire when his only goal in life is to destroy Israel and all Israelis.

Carter, who has done everything possible to undermine America and President Bush during the past seven years is now demonstrating his grandiosity by expecting that he and only he can change the course of the world.  He seems to believe that if only he talks nice to the terrorists they will see the light and capitulate.  They will see that Jews have a right to live and that non-Muslims have a right to live and that Muslims are not the “superior race” (see previous fascist Adolf Hitler, post-WWI Germany).

Carter failed miserably as President.  He allowed America to become the laughing stock of the world when he did nothing to end the hostage crisis in Iran.  Now he tries to undermine a real President and demonstrates once again his weakness.

There is a time for negotiation and there is a time for bullets.  This is the time for bullets.  And this is the time for Mr. Carter to stand back and let the strong do their jobs.

View Article  Super Delegates: Another Encroachment on Freedom

In a previous commentary (Obama’s Gift to American, 4/16/08) I quoted George Will (Minneapolis StarTribune, 4/15/08) in his demonstration that liberals believe that the “masses” are easily swayed by “false consciousness”.  In effect, liberals believe that the “masses” are not very intelligent.  Barack Obama has stated this belief very clearly in his speech concerning the “bitterness” he attributes to normal, everyday Americans.  George Will asserts that because of this belief, four rules follow:

“First, the consent of the governed, when their behavior is governed by their false consciousnesses, is unimportant.

“Second, the public requires the supervision of a progressive elite which, somehow emancipated from false consciousness, can engineer true consciousness.

“Third, because consciousness is a reflection of social conditions, true consciousness is engineered by progressive social reforms.

“Fourth, because people in the grip of false consciousness cannot be expected to demand or even consent to such reforms, those reforms usually must be imposed, for example, by judicial fiats.”

This from the portion of the political spectrum (represented by the Democrat Party) that says it is the only one that really cares for the people.

The Democrat Party has finally shown its true colors in the person of Barack Obama.  It has also shown its true colors in the decision to create “super delegates” to the Democrat Convention.

The Democrat Party has long demonstrated its distaste for Democracy.  In the minds of Democrat leaders, the people “get it wrong” too often.  If they only had a way to counter the failures of the people.  Well, they found a way in the creation of “super delegates”.

Wikipedia defines “‘super delegate’ as an informal term commonly used for some of the delegates to the Democratic National Convention, the presidential nominating convention of the United States Democratic Party.  Unlike most convention delegates, the super delegates are not selected based on the party primaries and caucuses in each U.S. state, in which voters choose among candidates for the party's presidential nomination. Instead, most of the super delegates are seated automatically, based solely on their status as current or former party leaders and elected officials (‘PLEOs’). Others are chosen during the primary season. All the super delegates are free to support any candidate for the nomination.”

This is elitism at its best.  Super delegates are special.  They are the party faithful, the elite leaders who apparently know more than common people who used to have the right to vote and to select their candidates.  They apparently know more that the very people that the Democrat Party claims to love and respect and serve.

This is yet another example of the power of the left and the naivety of more than half of the people in this nation who are allowing their freedoms to be eroded by the people they believe are serving them.

Once again, all this is consistent with what I have been writing about for years.  It is also consistent with the brilliant book entitled “Liberal Fascism” by Jonah Goldberg (Doubleday, 2007).   I implore you to read that book before you do anything else.  Especially if you are a liberal.  You owe it to yourself and you owe it to America!

For one of the first times in several decades, one arm of the elite media actually did its job…asking the tough questions of the two contenders for the Democrat nomination for President of the United States.  ABC’s Gibson and Stephanopoulos began their questioning exactly where it should have started.  Everyone knows that questions concerning the “big” issues like Iraq and the economy bring about memorized responses, prepared by high paid writers and strategists.  ABC’s commentators actually went against tradition and asked questions that made both Obama and Clinton a bit uncomfortable.  THAT IS A GOOD THING!

Obama has yet to come up with a logical and honest response to serious questions about his friends, his character, and his patriotism.  Questions about his relationship with Jeremiah Wright and about his apparent contempt for rural Americans were asked that attempted to get answers about these things.  Clinton has yet to really respond seriously to her lie about being under fire in Bosnia.  Again, questions were raised that tried to get an honest response.  Of course, both candidates continued to dodge and weave.  But the right questions were asked.

So what is the response?  Surprised that their own personal media service didn’t follow the “script”, the leftists were on attack within just minutes of the end of the debate.  Will Bunch, Tom Shales, and Greg Mitchell were aghast!  MoveOn.org threatened to put another ad on television if 100,000 people signed their petition.  How dare they ask those questions “that no one cares about” when the big issues were not brought up for 45 minutes?  How dare the liberal, elite media actually do its job and hold leftists’ feet to the fire like they have done to conservatives for decades?  THAT is just not fair!

Yeah, right!

What is really scaring the Democrats was “diagnosed” by Hugh Hewitt tonight on his radio show.  Risking my tendency to paraphrase and, in this case, to blatantly add my own opinion and words, this is the issue.  At the very beginning of this campaign, the Democrats were enthralled by the new messiah.  They were mesmerized by his oratorical skills, by the fact that he is a representative of a minority, by the fact that he was raised by a single mother, by the fact that he was a fresh face and basically unknown to the nation.  But then, as luck would have it, they soon began to see the flaws.  Not little scars…big, huge flaws.  So, like all good liberals, they decided to ignore the facts and generate their own reality.  It is all about feelings and in their feelings he IS the ONE…the savior…the one who can bring liberals back into power.  AND NOTHING WILL GET IN THE WAY OF THAT.  NOTHING!

So MoveOn.org will do its thing, the strategists and writers will do their thing, the elite media will revert to their usual ways, and the people will decide, eventually, who will be President.

The only thing that could get in the way and ruin the script is Barack Hussein Obama.

View Article  Obama's "Gift" to America

I have not been writing much lately.  I have been reading, studying and learning.  I have been trying to make sense of what is occurring in the midst of America’s ongoing political drama of 2008.  I have learned a great deal.  I have been reading about the history of liberalism, the links to things dark, and the changes in the Democrat Party that have occurred right before our eyes without us seeing or understanding.

In the middle of all this study, I ran across a commentary by George Will that tied together much of what I have been learning.  In his commentary, Mr. Will focused on Barack Obama and what he teaches us about liberalism.

I have very little respect for Mr. Obama for many reasons (e.g., the fact that he and his wife seem to have great distain for America; the fact that he remained for 20 years in a church led by an anti-American reverend; the fact that he said he would have left that church had the reverend not left, although he made no move to do so before the heat was on; the fact that he said he wouldn’t want his daughter “punished by a child” if she became pregnant; and the fact that he seems to have as much distain for middle class Americans as he does for human life in general and for the country as a whole.)

Still, Mr. Obama’s candidacy has served a purpose and has done two good things for America.  First it has shown us all the remarkable difference between the Democrat Party of the past and the Democrat Party of the present.  Second, it has shown us the incredible difference between the Republican Party of the present and the Democrat Party of the present.

I want to share a bit of what George Will wrote (Minneapolis StarTribune, 4/15/08).  He wrote that:

“…Barack Obama may be the fulfillment of modern liberalism. Explaining why many working-class voters are ‘bitter’, he said they ‘cling’ to guns, religion and ‘antipathy to people who aren't like them’… His implication was that their primitivism, superstition and bigotry (highlight mine) are balm for resentments they feel because of America's grinding injustice.

“By so speaking, Obama does fulfill liberalism's transformation since Franklin D. Roosevelt. What had been under FDR a celebration of America and the values of its working people has become a doctrine of condescension toward those people and the supposedly coarse and vulgar country that pleases them.

“When a supporter told Adlai Stevenson, the losing Democratic presidential nominee in 1952 and 1956, that thinking people supported him, Stevenson said, ‘Yes, but I need to win a majority.’ Michael Barone, in ‘Our Country: The Shaping of America From Roosevelt to Reagan,’ wrote: ‘Stevenson was the first leading Democratic politician to become a critic rather than a celebrator of middle-class American culture’…

“Stevenson, like Obama, energized young, educated professionals. According to Barone, they sought from him ‘not so much changes in public policy as validation of their own cultural stance.’ They especially rejected ‘American exceptionalism, the notion that the United States was specially good and decent,’ rather than -- in Michelle Obama's words – ‘just downright mean.’

“(Liberal) Harvard economist John Kenneth Galbraith argued that…manipulable masses are easily given a ‘false consciousness’ (another category, like religion as the ‘opiate’ of the suffering masses, that liberalism appropriated from Marxism), four things follow:

“First, the consent of the governed, when their behavior is governed by their false consciousnesses, is unimportant. Second, the public requires the supervision of a progressive elite which, somehow emancipated from false consciousness, can engineer true consciousness. Third, because consciousness is a reflection of social conditions, true consciousness is engineered by progressive social reforms. Fourth, because people in the grip of false consciousness cannot be expected to demand or even consent to such reforms, those reforms usually must be imposed, for example, by judicial fiats.” (highlight mine)

It is interesting that it is primarily through litigation and judicial decision-making that everyday Americans have lost so many freedoms at the hands of the left.

“(Leftist) Columbia University historian Richard Hofstadter pioneered the rhetorical tactic that Obama has revived with his diagnosis of working-class Democrats as victims -- the indispensable category in liberal theory. The tactic is to dismiss rather than refute those with whom you disagree.  Obama's dismissal is: Americans, especially working-class conservatives, are unable, because of their false consciousness, to deconstruct their social context and embrace the liberal program. Today that program is to elect Obama, thereby making his wife at long last proud of America.”

George Will is an astute observer of the political scene and his commentary is spot on in defining the issue of liberalism today.  What is missing is a broader history of how all this came about.  In the near future, I will write about that history and more about the dark world of modern day “progressive ideology”.  In the meantime, I suggest that you spend some time reading “Liberal Fascism” by Jonah Goldberg (Doubleday, 2007).  Now THAT is an eye opener!
