Many Americans believe that whatever they read in the newspaper or watch on television is the truth. They do not try to delve more deeply to find the actual truth. So, just to get us all on the same page, here is a little quiz. Some of these items were found in the press. A few, I just made up. Just highlight the statements that are really facts. · Human generated carbon dioxide brought about the end of the Ice Age 11,000 years ago.
· The earth is flat.
· Scientists have factual proof for their theory that humans are causing a warming of the global climate.
· The sun circles the earth.
· Scientists have factual proof that there is no God.
· Islamofascists are really misunderstood good guys who want us all to live in peace.
· If we had only been nicer to Hitler he wouldn’t have found it necessary to try to conquer the world.
· If we would just talk to bin Laden, everything would we wonderful in the world.
· Jack Bauer will be back next year on “24” and not one backup cop will be killed.
· Hybrid cars are cheaper and better than real cars and will save the buyer hundreds of dollars in just a few weeks.
· If I take Frank Sinatra’s advice and do it “My Way” all the time, everything will be just swell.
· Everyone should be forced to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle, bicycle, horse or while shopping, because no one has ever died or been paralyzed while wearing one.
· We can instill discipline in schools by allowing people of different races to “just be themselves”.
· When the government tells us that they are here to help us, we will be just fine.
· The scientists that asserted that humans were creating global cooling in the 1970’s had irrefutable evidence that their assertion was true.
· Scientists have real proof that the polar bears are at great risk due to human actions.
